Farran's History

Farran was founded in 1977 in Cork, Ireland, by senior research staff from the nearby National Micro-Electronics Research Centre (now Tyndall National Institute) - one of Europe's largest micro-electronics research establishment.

Farran Technology has grown to become a primary supplier of leading-edge millimeter-wave subsystems and systems to major systems integrators.  The company has built a world-class level of IPR, embodied in its own patented designs, in its exclusive access to patented products and in the know-how of its long-serving  technical staff.

Farran was acquired by Smiths Group (SMIN.L) in 2005 which further enhanced the technology drive within Farran and allowed the company to further enhance its reputation in the growing global mmWave industry.

In October 2013, Farran was the subject of a Management Buy Out (MBO) and is now wholly owned by Farran employees. This MBO allowed Farran even further flexibility to meet the changing needs of its clients, and further enables the company’s ability to become an even more versatile & responsive mmWave solutions provider.

Farran’s products serve markets such as Test & Measurement, Radar, Imaging and R & D.
